Can You Provide a Meal?

 



It is said that there is no greater expression of love than to prepare a meal for others. At Harvey County Circle of Hope, we want you to have the opportunity to express your love on a grand scale, by providing a Tuesday night meal for our Circle of Hope participants. These meals bring families into the program as they build hope into their future stories and close the gap between where they are and where they want to be. We are currently feeding between 60 and 80 people each week.


If you are a cook with a plan, we have volunteers that can help with preparation and cleanup. If you are a big group and want to do it all, we’ll just stand by to help you find stuff. The one need that remains constant, however, is coordinating the meal and providing the ingredients. Please look inside your circle of friends, maybe outside your circle of friends, maybe inside your own heart, and help us find folks to perform this honorable, collaborative (and delicious) task. The meals created in our kitchen are the building blocks of the relationships forged at Circle of Hope, they are how we get to know each other and they are how we develop the trust necessary to build positive, caring and supportive relationships.

That is what Peace Connections has done in inviting Priscilla Griffith and Jenna Ratzlaff to be part of the team. “I am excited to be part of something in which I can give back to a community that has given so much to me,” said Priscilla Griffith, a graduate of the Circle of Hope program and current owner of a Habitat for Humanity home in Newton. Griffith is a 45-year-old musician and mother to three children and works in the international shipping department at the Bradbury Company in Moundridge, Kansas. Jenna Ratzlaff is a 27-year-old Director of Social Services at Kansas Christian Home in Newton. Sneak Peek at SEAK

 SNEAK PEEK AT SEAK   We're gearing up for a whirlwind of fun with Summer Enrichment Activities for Kids (SEAK) - an action-packed 8-week program for kids to mingle, explore, and chow down on some tasty treats. Geared towards anyone aged 1-18 in Harvey County, this program dishes out free meals and fun activities four days a week. By serving up nutritious meals, breaking social barriers, and rallying community support, SEAK aims to sprinkle some positivity around! Teaming up with awesome community members like YOU lets Peace Connections shine a spotlight on our community's strengths. The African proverb, "I am because we are," perfectly sums up how SEAK can bring us closer, tap into our neighborhood resources, and share good times over a meal.
