Much like a ride-sharing app connects people with nearby drivers, CarePortal connects families in need with local churches and community members who can step in with practical support and meaningful care. When staff identify a tangible need that could help strengthen or stabilize a family, they submit that request through CarePortal. Nearby churches and community members are then invited to respond in real time, helping keep a difficult situation from becoming an even greater crisis.
Sometimes that response looks like delivering a bed, purchasing groceries, or providing a car seat. Oftentimes, those moments become something much more lasting: neighbors meeting neighbors, churches becoming trusted partners, or families discovering they don’t have to navigate difficult seasons alone. Behind nearly every request is a family experiencing stress, uncertainty, or circumstances that no one wants to face alone.
While practical support can meet an immediate need, relationships help create the kind of encouragement and belonging that can last long after the request has been fulfilled.
Consider something as simple as a car seat. Without one, a parent may be unable to safely get their child to medical appointments or childcare. Missed appointments, lost work, and mounting stress can quickly compound an already difficult situation. A single unmet need can quickly create additional challenges that become harder to overcome for a family on the margins. Now picture that same family surrounded by people they can call. Maybe someone lends them a car seat. Another person offers a ride. A church steps in to purchase one. Friends connect them with additional resources. And someone else checks in the next week just to see how they’re doing. Along the way, the family experiences encouragement, support, and the reassurance that they are not facing life’s challenges alone.
The need may have been a car seat, but the real difference was connection. When families receive practical support and caring relationships before challenges continue to grow, they are often better equipped to remain stable and more forward.
